Odyssey PM

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 2002 (August 20, 2009). About 120 degrees wide, this view of an area named Odyssey was taken in the evening with low-sun lighting to look at morphology and textures. The center left portion of this mosaic featuring Von Braun was also imaged on the previous sol in the morning. NOTE: Missing data in this mosaic are the result of the images being acquired while Spirit had very little available Flash memory storage. Although normal Flash mode operations allows for any missing images, missing color channels, or data transmission errors to be fixed by retransmitting the missing data the following sol, the low memory storage available prevented the missing data from being retransmitted. Pancam's 482 nm filter was used in this mosaic.  This is a mosaic made from the left eye only.
