Von Braun  << back to mosaics

Von Braun

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 2114 (December 13, 2009).  The field of view is approximately 42 degrees wide and shows a potential destination called Von Braun (the mound in the center of the mosaic). Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene. Gradients and seams in the sky part of the view here have been smoothed over to give the scene a more natural, landscape look.
