Burns Cliff

The Opportunity rover acquired this mosaic of Burns Cliff on Sol 95 (April 30, 2004).  As the rover approached Endurance Crater, it took this image of the far rim of the crater.  Burns Cliff showed prominent layering, and several close-up mosaics were taken of the area when Opportunity drove right up to the cliff; see images from sols 278 to 294.  This mosaic spans a field of view of about 30 degrees across and 8 degrees high.
This mosaic was acquired in Pancam's 753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
