Outcrop Alpha
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 17 (February 10, 2004). Approximately 130 degrees wide, this view is a region of exposed outcrop, named Alpha, in the wall of Eagle Crater. Outcrop Alpha was part one of four of the science team's outcrop imaging for geomorphology/stratigraphy. Part two, three, and four are Bravo, Charlie, and Delta, respectively. Pancam's 432 nm, 535 nm, and 753 nm filters were used in the making of this mosaic. Two versions are available in full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
