Larrys Lookout  << back to mosaics

Larrys Lookout

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 454 (April 13, 2005). The field of view of this image is approximately 90 degrees. In the distance lies the flat, windswept floor of Gusev Crater, framed by the far crater rim. Closer to the camera is an outcrop called Larry's Lookout (another view here). The rover's tracks are also in this image. For scale, the distance between the two parallel tracks is about 1 meter (3.3 feet). Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Three versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing with red blue glasses.
