Santa Maria Position Two (right)

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2543 (March 20, 2011).  This vantage point is from the right side of the second imaging position, a few meters from the Position Two left imaging position, part of a campaign to capture short- and long-baseline stereo imaging of Santa Maria crater to study its structure and stratigraphy. Stereo images can be used to construct a DEM (digital elevation model). Images were also aquired from the left side of this vantage point. A similar series was taken from Position One, as well as a short-baseline mosaic from the south rim. Pancam's 753 nm (left camera) and 754 nm (right camera) filters were used.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: a monochrome view and a stereo anaglyph.
