Postcard Above Tennessee Valley

This is the Spirit Pancam "Tennessee Valley 2" mini-panorama or postcard, acquired on sol 582 (August 23, 2005) just as Spirit finally completed her intrepid climb to the summit of Husband Hill. The summit appears to be a windswept plateau of scattered rocks, small sand dunes, and small exposures of outcrop. The breathtaking view here is towards the north, looking down into the drifts and outcrops of the Tennessee Valley, a region that Spirit was not able to visit during her climb to the top.

The postcard spans about 90 degrees and consists of images obtained in 18 individual pointings and 3 Pancam filters at each pointing. This mosaic is an approximate true color rendering generated using the images acquired through Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters.
