Whale Pan

This is the Spirit Pancam "Whale" panorama, acquired on sols 497 to 500 (May 27 to 30, 2005) from a position near "Larry's Outcrop" (rock layers on the right side of the panorama) about two-thirds of the way to the summit of Husband Hill. The panorama spans about 220 degrees in azimuth and consists of images obtained in 50 individual pointings and 5 Pancam filters at each pointing. This mosaic is an approximate true color rendering generated using the images acquired through Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters.

While the panorama was being acquired, Spirit's robotic arm instruments were acquiring elemental chemistry and mineralogy data on the foreground rock target known as "Ahab."
