Endeavour Crater Dunes

Back to Projects

By Jim Bell and the Cornell Pancam Uplink Team
(Emily Dean, Elaina McCartney, and Jon Proton)

The Opportunity rover imaged a dune field in the interior of Endeavour Crater many times in her Meridiani explorations in order to detect the changes caused by wind. This page provides a list of observations of the area taken from Opportunity's winter site at Greeley Haven on Cape York. These mosaics span approximately 30°. Pancam's 432 nanometer, 535 nanometer, and 753 nanometer filters were used to create these mosaics, unless otherwise noted. For each, two versions are offered: an approximate true color image and a false color stretch to bring out subtle details in the scene. For more about how these images were made, see Estimating the True Colors of Mars and Creating False Color Images of Mars on the Projects page.
