Cape Verde

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 952 (September 27, 2006).  The image was taken as the rover approached Victoria Crater for the first time. Shown here is Cape Verde, one of the crater's promontories. The field of view is approximately 53 degrees wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
