Low Ridge

This mosaic was acquired by the Spirit rover on Sol 778 (March 11, 2006) in Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters. The view spans about 60 degrees. Two versions are available at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering to enhance subtle color differences in the scene.

Low Ridge is named after space pioneer George M. Low. Low was a leading figure within NASA from the inception of the agency, and served as Deputy Administrator from 1969 to 1975. He is perhaps best known for his leadership of the Apollo Spacecraft Program Office, where he was responsible for the successful redesign of the Apollo spacecraft following the Apollo 1 fire in which three astronauts perished.
