Hillary

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 618 (September 28, 2005). Hillary was found hear the summit of Husband Hill in the Columbia Hills. Spirit took the Everest Pan very close to this location, then went back to Hillary for a more thorough investigation with instruments on the robotic arm. This mosaic is about 40 degrees wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
