Missed Tracks

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 494 (June 14, 2005).  The intent of this observation was to examine old and new tracks behind the rover, as it began a K-turn to return to Purgatory dune for analysis. Unfortunately, it appears it was mispointed and did not hit the rover tracks. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
