Mound

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 4707 (April 21, 2017).  This approximately 60 degree wide view looks northward back at the southern end of Cape Tribulation from about two football fields' distance away. Wheel tracks can be traced back to see the rover's route as it descended and departed Cape Tribulation. For more details, view the public release, Putting Martian 'Tribulation' Behind, by JPL, as well as the rover update Opportunity Begins Study of Valley's Origins by NASA. Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
