This view was acquired by the Opportunity rover on Sol 448 (April 28, 2005) as the team attempted to free the rover from "Purgatory Dune." The scene shows the track made by the right wheel as the spacecraft dug itself deep into the sand. The team finally extracted Opportunity from the dune on Sol 484, after 38 sols. Two versions are provided below at full resolution, an approximate true color mosaic, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle details in the scene.
