IDD Workplane  << back to mosaics

IDD Workplane

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3655 (May 6, 2014).  The image shows the rover's robotic arm, or Instrument Deployment Device (IDD) extended out over outcrop. It was taken to aid in the selection of targets for analysis. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an overhead perspective projection of an approximate true color rendering, and an overhead perspective projection of a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
