This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3567 (February 4, 2014). After examining Pinnacle Island with instruments on its robotic arm, the rover drove ahead and looked back on the area to look for a possible origin for Pinnacle Island (visible here in the lower center frame, just above the rover hardware). The field of view is approximately 43 degrees wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
