Great Keppel Island

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3506 (December 4, 2013). The approximately 33° wide image shows an outcrop informally known as Great Keppel Island. The unique shape of this mosaic is meant to capture the most interesting parts of the outcrop while saving precious data volume for other activities. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
