Possible Contact

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3101 (October 13, 2012).  After leaving Whitewater Lake, the rover drove upslope and imaged this area of outcrop in an attempt to survey the area and look for transitions between geologic layers at Matijevic Hill. This view shows a patch of ground about 5.5 meters (18 feet) across. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Three versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
