Amboy Komati

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2803 (December 12, 2011). The view shows the workvolume around a target called Boesmanskop, along with part of the rover's robotic arm (Instrument Deployment Device, or IDD). The mosaic was assembled from images taken when the rover was at two slightly different locations. Each frame was also taken at a different time of day, and therefore the shadowing from texture in the terrain is quite different between them. This leads to visible seams in the mosaic, and the appearance of smoother and rougher surface textures between the frames.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
