North Haven |
||||
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2789 (November 28, 2011). This area of north-facing slopes is a candidate for a haven for Opportunity during the martian winter. Opportunity's solar panels need a northerly tilt for energy during winter in the southern hemisphere of Mars. As Opportunity drove along the Shoemaker formation of Cape York on Endeavour Crater rim, surveys were accumulated for slope analysis. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
