Havelock

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2753 (October 22, 2011).  During a survey of the Cape York area for north-facing slopes at which to spend the martian winter, Opportunity sampled the surrounding geology in color with her Pancam cameras. Havelock is named for a mine in the Barberton greenstone belt of South Africa. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
