A look at the ground |
||||
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2642 (June 30, 2011). This mosaic was shot toward the martian surface, pointed in the opposite direction of the Sun, to accompany some "sky flats" which are used to calibrate the Pancam cameras. The images happened to capture Opportunity's tracks showing soil disturbances. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
