Endeavour Rim  << back to mosaics

Endeavour Rim

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2299 (July 12, 2010).  This view shows a section of the rim of Endeavour Crater. This mosaic was taken to compliment 'super-res' imaging (a type of imaging that can provide higher resolution images of distant or finely detailed targets) of the rim. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used to make this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene. Because details on the rim were of importance here, the foreground appears excessively red in the false color. The field of view is approximately 30° wide.
