Charleston Ripples

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2241 (May 14, 2010) at about 15:16 LSTB (local Mars time).  This is a look at both sides of a plains ripple to test assumptions about particle size differences between east and west facing slopes. A monochrome mosaic with the same pointing using the 432nm filter was also taken at a different time of day (about 11:07 LSTB) to see the effects of lighting changes.

Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
