Endeavour and Iazu Crater Rims

         On Sol 2226 (April 28, 2010) the Opportunity rover acquired this image, showing Endeavour and Iazu Craters on the horizon. Endeavour Crater, whose rim is darker and on the left in the image, is about 21 km (13 miles) in diameter and lies almost 13 km (8 miles) away from the rover's current location. The taller, lighter rim to the right is Iazu Crater, a smaller 7 km (4 mile) diameter crater South of Endeavour. Opportunity began her multi-year trek to Endeavour in September 2008, after spending almost 2 years exploring Victoria Crater.
         The field of view is roughly 30 degrees across. Dunes in the foreground are about 20 centimeters (8 inches) high. This mosaic was created using Pancam's 753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
