Escher   << back to mosaics

Escher

The Opportunity rover acquired this mosaic of cracked, exposed rock, aptly named Escher, on Sol 208 (Aug. 24, 2004). Escher was imaged while Opportunity was exploring Endurance Crater. This view covers an area approximately 30 degrees wide, near to the rover.
This mosaic was acquired in Pancam's 753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at full resolution: an approximately true color rendering, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
