Marquette Island

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2056 (November 5, 2009). This view was taken after a drive in an attempt to image Marquette Island, a site Opportunity would later investigate with the tools on its robotic arm, or Instrument Deployment Device (IDD). Marquette Island is the large dark object just barely visible at the top of this image. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene. Color was only acquired on a single frame of this mosaic.
