Mackinac |
||||
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2035 (October 14, 2009). Mackinac is rock discovered by Opportunity and named for an island. It is the large dark rock in the right frame just past the ripple that runs through the middle of the mosaic. Images were acquired post-drive to help determine if it was another meteorite, but the rock was not investigated further. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
