Block Island

        On Sol 1961 (July 30, 2009) Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity approached Block Island, a large rock which chemical data indicate is probably a meteorite, on the Meridiani plains. The rover's robotic arm can be seen in the lower left side of the mosaic, preparing to make measurements with its Microscopic Imager (MI) and spectrometers. Block Island is 60-70 centimeters wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this false color mosaic. Full resolution version below.
