West Home Plate

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1900 (May 7, 2009).  The mosaic shows a portion of the ground near the West side of Home Plate. For scale, the large light toned rock near the center of the mosaic is approximately 50 centimeters wide. This image was taken very close to the area where Spirit ultimately became permanently embedded. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Three versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing with red blue glasses.
