Drive Direction

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1856 (March 23, 2009).  The approximately 57 degrees wide view shows the drive direction looking southwest around Home Plate. This drive direction is a closer look at the Western Route after driving 12 meters (a little over 39 feet) on Sol 1854 and then driving an additional 25.82 meters (almost 85 feet) on Sol 1856 — and breaking the odometry record for 5-wheel driving in the process — before acquiring the view shown here. Pancam's 753 nm filter was used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: a mosaic made from the left eye only, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
