Halfmoon Crater   << back to mosaics

Halfmoon Crater

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1792 (Feb. 6, 2009). Halfmoon Crater can be seen near the upper left side of the image, just under the horizon (easier to see in the false color stretch). The crater is approximately 15 meters in diameter. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
