Bright Tracks

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 174 (June 29, 2004). The image provides context for measurements taken by the Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer (Mini-TES) on disturbed soil in the rover's tracks. The large rock in the foreground is about 30 centimeters wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
