Outcrop

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1710 (November 14, 2008). After a drive, the rover ended up on an interesting expanse of outcrop in the midst of the ripples. This image offers a better view of the outcrop material. The field of view is 16 degrees wide.  Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
