Bagnold

Opportunity obtained this mosaic on Sol 1648 (Sept. 12, 2008) using Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters. The field of view is about 30 degrees high and 16 degrees wide.   Because of dust on the camera's front sapphire windows, the right half of the four pointings used in this image was subframed out to minimize darkening.  The resulting image has roughly the coverage of two full frames.  This image was designed to get a good view of the dust at the lip of Victoria Crater near Cape Verde, as well as to provide information to safely drive the rover closer to the area.  Two versions are offered at full resolution: an approximate true color mosaic, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
