Schuchert
The
Opportunity rover acquired this mosaic of rock outcrop on Sol 1645 (Sep.
9, 2008). This mosaic shows an area of "cap rock" along the top of
Cape Verde, at Victoria Crater, taken during Opportunity's egress from
the crater. Due to Opportunity's dusty front sapphire
windows, the right third of the three pointings used to form this mosaic were subframed
out to minimize darkening. A bit of Bottomless Bay can be seen at
the top right of the image. The mosaic's field of view is roughly
25 degrees across and 16 degrees high.
This mosaic was created using Pancam's
753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at
full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a
false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
