Barghoorn

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1628 (August 22, 2008). It is named after American paleobotanist and Professor of Natural History at Harvard University, Elso Barghoorn. This was part of a series of rock targets Opportunity imaged as it climbed out of Victoria Crater. The field of view is about 25 degrees wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
