Du Toit   << back to mosaics

Du Toit

Opportunity obtained this mosaic on Sol 1621 (Aug. 14, 2008) using Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters. The field of view is about 16 degrees high and wide.  Du Toit is an area of broken bedrock along the slope of Victoria Crater, near where the rover exited the crater.  Due to Opportunity's dusty front sapphire windows, the right half of both pointings in this image was subframed out to minimize darkening.  The resulting image has the equivalent coverage of a single full frame.  Two versions are offered at full resolution: an approximate true color mosaic, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene
