Mawson

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1595 (July 19, 2008). This shot did not hit its intended target, but instead provides a useful image of the dust accumulation on the camera's front window (especially visible in the False color version). It was taken near the base of Cape Verde in Victoria Crater. The visible seam between frames is caused by dust buildup on Pancam's front sapphire window. Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Three versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
