Cape Verde

On Sol 1329 (October 20, 2007), Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity took this image of Cape Verde. This area was also imaged over 370 sols ago, as part of a larger view into Victoria Crater. This mosaic was taken from Duck Bay, as the rover made its way down into the crater. The overall soft quality of the image, and the "haze" seen in the lower right portion, are the result of scattered light in the camera optics from the dust on the front sapphire window.

Two versions are available at full resolution, an approximate true color generated using Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, 432 nm filters, and a false color stretch. Also provided is an annotated HiRISE image showing the rover's approximate location at the time of imaging.
