Toe-dip

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1291 (September 11, 2007).   On Sol 1291 Opportunity took a "toe-dip" into Victoria Crater, consisting of driving approximately 4 meters into the crater, acquiring some imaging, then backing 4 meters out of the crater, to test driving conditions and feasibility of ingressing further. Dust deposited on the optics by a storm is evident in the mosaic seams. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
