Mantalia

Spirit acquired this mosaic, called "Mantalia", on Sol 1193 (May 12, 2007). The view shows a vertical section spanning about 30 degrees in height of a hill near "Gertrude Weise," an area of light-toned soil excavated by the rover wheel. The image was taken to provide context for observations on the newly discovered soil. These images use Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters. Two versions are offered at full resolution: an approximate true color mosaic, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
