Rear Localization

The Spirit rover acquired this mosaic on Sol 112 (April 26, 2004). At the time this image was taken, Spirit had driven about 300 meters in the direction of the Columbia Hills, with just over 1700 more to go. This is the view behind the rover, showing the tracks to aid in localization and drive assessment. Two versions are offered at full resolution: an approximate true color mosaic made from Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
