Cape of Good Hope  << back to mosaics

Cape of Good Hope

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1096 (February 22, 2007).  This is the first of two mosaics of the The Cape of Good Hope at Victoria Crater. Opportunity then drove about 4m away from this position and imaged it again to get long baseline stereo data for 3D modelling. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
