Montalva Wings

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1088 (January 24, 2007). About 33 degrees wide, the view shown is of the target Montalva within the Troll outcrop. The Rock Abrasion Tool (RAT) made a grind hole in Montalva exposing some bright soil similar to Tyrone. The RAT hole, which is the small bright white circular feature in the center of this image, is about 4.5 centimeters in diameter, or about the width of the top of a typical soda can. Pancam's 432 nm filter was used in this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: a mosaic made from the left eye only, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
