Dark Sands

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 075 (March 19, 2004). This view across Bonneville Crater shows Spirit's heatshield resting on the rim, and covers a roughly 30 degree field of view.  Other mosaic of Spirit's heatshield from across Bonneville Crater was taken on sols 77 and 79.   Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
