Whiteslope

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 070 (March 14, 2004). The view covers 30 degrees along the ridge of a small hill. Though predominantly covered in rocks and small boulders, patches of smooth sand can be seen, as well as an interesting line of rocks along the top of the hill where sand has built up (visible in the center right of the view).   Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
