Humphrey

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 054 (February 27, 2004). Humphrey, the large irregularly shaped rock at the top of this image, was later brushed and drilled with the rover's Rock Abrasion Tool (RAT). Detailed inspection revealed a bright material filling internal cracks in this volcanic rock. Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
