MGS Albedo Pan  << back to mosaics

MGS Albedo Pan

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 046 (February 18, 2004). The view was taken to measure albedo in a coordinated effort with Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) as it flew over Gusev Crater. The Columbia Hills are visible in the left side of the image, and the lander can be seen in the right. Pancam's 436nm, 754nm, and a synthesized 535nm filter were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: a synthesized approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
